Built more than 15 years ago, Underhill has been a closely guarded secret, until recent days. Situated on a small rural block in Whatawhata on the outskirts of Hamilton, it feels like it's straight out of The Shire. Handily located, it's only 45 minutes to Waitomo Caves and Raglan, or an hour to Hobbiton itself!
Even though Underhill is in a rural area; hot water, flushing toilets, comfy beds, heating, and everything needed for self-catering are all included! Not to mention it's sustainably built with native materials, offering an eco-friendly accommodation experience.

While there is no electricity on offer, an authentic coal range provides heating & cooking facilities inside, and a gas BBQ for cooking outdoors. Filtered water and a chilly bin (Esky or cooler) for cold food and drink storage are both included.
Some of the unique features include; the specially designed oval-shaped bed, a stargazing ceiling window, and widespread timber doors that open to overlook pristine farmland.
Even if you aren’t a Lord of the Rings enthusiast, the peace and quiet of Underhill is the perfect place to unwind, switch off, and connect with nature.
