If I could only visit one city in New Zealand it would be … Excluding Queenstown (not a city) then you can’t beat Wellington on a good day.
Three things I love about the South Island are …
1. Remote wilderness, 2. dramatic landscapes,
3. everyone seems to be on holiday!
Describe the typical New Zealander in three words … Gregarious, genuine, and unassuming.
My favourite spot to relax is … Anywhere there’s water, no sandflies and monster trout!
NZ’s yummiest icecream can be found at … A scoop of TipTop ice-cream (vanilla only) on a cone from any local dairy – chocolate dipped with toppings is acceptable but not essential. For more decadent ice cream visit Patagonia Ice Cream located in Queenstown, Wanaka and Arrowtown.
Essential Kiwi lingo to learn … Kia ora, Sweet as, Bro, Cuz(zie), Chocka, Dairy, Jandals, No worries, Munted, Togs, Tramp, Yeah…nah, wop wops ….. that’s probably enough eh?
The best autumn nature walk is …
Sawpit Gully Trail – Arrowtown.
My ultimate ‘family day out’ would be … Outdoor adventures with the kids involving water or off the beaten track.
If you love adventure you should check out … Routeburn Track (Glenorchy) or Rob Roy Glacier (Wanaka).
When I need a caffeine fix I go to … Bespoke Café right next door to iFLY Queenstown!
For a good view, visit … Top of Ben Lomond Track - Queenstown (cheap option) …. or take a scenic flight to Milford Sound via a glacier (not so cheap option).
I love New Zealand because …
The rest of the world loves us!
